Day 6 At Olympics: Multiple Victories For Indian Contingent

On the 6th day at the Tokyo Olympics, there are multiple victories by Indians that resulted in big hopes of scoring more medals. Starting from PV Sindhu at the beginning of the day, the Archery players, the Hockey players, the Shooters, and boxer Kumar Satish won their respective games. It will be an interesting day for the Indian contingent tomorrow. The following is the roundup of Thursday’s events at the Tokyo Olympics.

Golf:

As per the reports, the first round of the Men’s Golf event was suspended Thursday because of a lightning storm at the Kasumisageki Country Club. It will be interesting to see Indians taking part in the event amidst a huge competition. Later, the game began. Indians Lahiri Anirban and Mane US took part in the game. Mane’s total is 76 while Lahiri’s total is 67. Round 2 will take place tomorrow.

Rowing:

In Rowing, Final B results are out. India ended up in 5th place with a timing of 6:29:66 in the LWT Men’s Doubles event.

Shooting:

At the end of the Precision round (qualification), Manu Bhaker ended up at the 5th spot with 292 points. Rahi Sarnobat is in the 25th spot with 287 points. A rapid round is scheduled for tomorrow. With a total of 44 shooters, 8 of them will be qualified for the Final which will take place tomorrow.

Hockey:

In Men’s pool A, India defeated Argentina by 3-1. The second round of the game has changed everything for the team. Indian players scored back-to-back goals and added pressure on the defending champions. India will next play against Japan.

Badminton:

PV Sindhu has entered the quarter-finals by defeating Blichfeldt Mia of Denmark. Sindhu will play her next game tomorrow.

Archery:

Atnanu Das initially moved into the 2nd round with a 6-4 win over Taipei archer. Later, he stunned the former Olympic and World Champion Oh Jinhyek of South Korea by 6-4 in the second round and entered the pre-quarterfinals. Atanu Das will take on Takaharu Furukwa in the pre-quarterfinals that will take place on Friday. It is a medal event.

Sailing:

Laster Men Race 07, 49er Men Race 05, and Laser Radial Women Race 07 took place. Laser Men Race 06, Laser Men Race 08 and Laser Radial Women Race 08 events also took place on Thursday. Ganapathy Kelapanda and Varun Thakkar ranked in 6 races. In the first race, they secured 18th place. They secured 18th, 17th, 19th, 16th, and 7th places in the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth races. 6 more races to go! The current overall rank is 17.

Boxing:

India’s Kumar Satish defeated Jamaica’s Brown Ricardo by 4-1 and reached the quarter-finals in +91 kgs. He is just one more win away from getting a medal.

In Women’s pre-quarterfinals (51 kg), star boxer Mary Kom faced Ingrit Velanica of Colombia. Mary Kom lost the bout to the reigning Olympic bronze medalist.
