An 80-year-old man was found tied to a hospital bed at Shahjapur City hospital in Madhya Pradesh and the picture on the same is going viral on the internet. The visuals are disturbing and sad as the old man is seen lying helplessly on the bed. But why was he tied so ruthlessly?
It is said that he and his family did not pay the partial pending medical bills yet and hence the hospital staff has taken the drastically shocking step. The 80-year-old man is identified as Laxmi Narayan and he had travelled from Rajgarh district, 38 kilometres away from Shajapur area for medical treatment.
The family has paid Rs 6000 as the first instalment and another Rs 5,000 as the second. But they have to pay more Rs 11,270 at the time of discharge and since Narayan’s family failed to do so as they ran out of money, he was tied to the bed.
Due to lockdown, the family said that they don’t have money and also couldn’t arrange it in such a short period. After the shocking incident came to light, District Collector Dinesh Jain said “We have sent a team of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and a doctor, to the hospital to investigate the matter. This should not have happened and we will ensure that appropriate action is taken against the hospital”.
