In the late hours of 25th September, a Hyderabadi man, vaguely identified as Rajnikanth fell into an open and overflowing drain in Manikonda. He was washed away in the drain and a massive search operation is underway now.
Rajnikanth is a software engineer at Nova Green Company located in Shadnagar. He was on his way to his house before he unknowingly fell into an open drain. He was washed away instantly and is yet to be traced.
Rajnikanth’s house is located just 50 meters away from the accident spot. Two Disaster Relief Force teams are taking part in the search operation to trace Rajnikanth.
A team is also surveying Neknampur lake, where all these drains in the area are connected to. The police have confirmed that the search operation is in full swing.
Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy and Chevalla MP G Ranjith Reddy visited the spot and met with Rajnikanth’s family members. They assured all possible support to the victim’s family.
The torrential rains in Hyderabad resulted in overflowing drains all across the city. Every year, we keep hearing numerous cases about people losing their lives after falling into these open drains. It is high time that the governments take the issue seriously and do the needful.
