IPL: Two New Teams To Be Announced On October 25

We are already aware that two new teams will be added to the Indian Premier League from the next season. Thus, there will be 10 teams participating in the league from 2022. Meanwhile, it is reported that the two new franchises will be announced on October 25.

In a press release issued the other day, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated, “The IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021.”

As per the reports, the two new franchises could be Ahmedabad and Lucknow. The home venues for these teams will be Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

It is heard big business groups like the Adani group and the RPG Sanjeev Goenka group are showing interesting in bidding for the new franchises.

There will be a major reshuffling in the squads from next season, with the introduction of the two new teams. A mega auction will be held in the first quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, it is heard that Sony and Zee groups, which have merged a few days back, are eyeing to grab the IPL media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle, by going for the bidding war against the Star group.
