US: Trump Suspends H-1B And H4 Visas Till Year-End

In a shocking update, US President Donald Trump announced that his administration is suspending work visas for foreigners, which include H-1B and H4 (Spouse of H-1b) till the current calendar year-end.

Additionally, the visa L1 (intracompany transfer) and J1 (doctors’ and researchers’ visas) also got suspended until the year-end.

Earlier in Oklahoma rally meet, Trump hinted his decision on suspending foreigners’ work visa and said he will announce it on Monday and he did it. The ongoing pandemic pushed the unemployment to high and this new move from Trump is expected to free up 520,000 jobs for American workers, though this executive order is temporary.

US administration already issued orders to change the visa regime replacing the existing lottery system for 84K H-1B visas with a merit-based system. While the Trump administration already issued a ban on green cards for a limited time, this new move of visa suspension is a shocker.
