Spiderman: Vigorous Advance Bookings Crash Websites

The long-awaited Spiderman: No Way Home will release on Dec 16 and fans are going frenzy with its advance booking. The film’s advance booking tickets were opened at the national multiplex chains of India on Sunday evening and we witnessed unprecedented excitement among fans as tickets went up for sale within 3 hours of opening.

PVR has sold over 50,000 tickets for the film in just a span of 3 hours. Despite the hike in prices across the board, fans went crazy and are all set to celebrate the arrival of Spiderman. And it is not a surprise as the movie will bring back several supervillains from previous Spider-Man franchises led by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, apart from Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Doctor Strange.

The rough gross figure of Rs 2.10 crore in this one single chain that’s operating in India with 900 screens. Of the 51,000 tickets sold, nearly 37,000 are for the opening day whereas the remaining 14,000 is split between Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also, the fans are facing issues while booking tickets as the booking websites crashed. Several netizens expressed their concern on social media.

The film is in the race to compete with pre-pandemic blockbusters like Bahubali 2 and War and Avengers: End Game. Vaguely, the INOX and Cinepolis combined are expected to have sold 35,000 plus tickets in advance, taking the national chain total to 85,000 with cumulative gross of 3.40 crore. Talking about the IMAX 3D format, the film is receiving the best response since Avengers: End Game.

Spider-Man is expected to give a tough time to Bollywood market more that that in Telugu states. On the otherside, the release clash between Spider-Man and Pushpa in US is also troubling the latter a bit. Due to the Spider-Man release on the same day, Pushpa is getting smaller auditoriums in Cinemark chain while the bigger ones are taken by Spiderman. On a positive note, Regal theater chain also opened their bookings for Pushpa.

Spider-Man: No Way Home traces the story of Spider-Man battling villains from previous installments, like Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman, and The Lizard. Tom Holland’s film ‘Spiderman: No Way Home’ will be released in India on 16 December.
