Netflix Pauses Its Projects In Russia

Recently, production giant Warner Bros. decided not to screen its latest release The Batman in Russia due to the country’s attack on its neighbour Ukraine.

Another popular production house Disney also decided not to release its films in Russia.

Now, streaming giant Netflix joined the list. It has decided to pause the works of all its Russian content due to the country’s military operations in Ukraine.

According to a report by Variety, Netflix currently has four Russian originals in production. All of them have been put on hold. The list includes a crime thriller series which is being directed by Dasha Zhuk.

Netflix entered Russia about a year ago and it is expected that the platform has over a million subscribers in the country. Netflix wrapped up the shoot of its first Russian original series Anna K last year.

Russia has been barred from various other film-related events like the Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival and other major film festivals and award shows.
