Indian’s vaccine for COVID-19 announced advanced trails recently. Hyderabad’s Bharat Biotech along with ICMR is developing a vaccine for COVID-19. In this regard, Haryana health minister Anil Vij tweeted an update.
Bharat Biotech as well announced initiating the Phase-1 human clinical trails of COVID-19 Vaccine, COVAXIN, across the country on 15th July 2020. The first human clinical trial of COVAXIN is a randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-COntrolled clinical trial in 375 volunteers in India.
The human trails of Bharat Biotech and ICMR’s, COVAXIN started on Friday at Haryana Rohtak Post-graduation Institute of Medical Sciences. The human trails started in many places in India along with Haryana PGI and Hyderabad NIMS.
According to NIMS director Dr. Manohar, a specially selected health volunteers were tested and the reports were sent to ICMR. Only after ICMR studies the preliminary test results of volunteers, the candidates for human trials will be chosen. Last Tuesday, the first phase of clinical trials started and each volunteer will be tested twice with the vaccine.
On the other side, the other indigenous vaccine which is already in Phase I/II clinical trials is ZyCov-D, developed by Zydus Cadila. This vaccine may be available by early 2021.
