#Slapgate: Chris Refuses To Host Oscars 2023

Hollywood actor Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscar Awards 2022 was a never before incident. Chris Rock cracked a joke on Jada Pinkett and this fumed Will Smith and he slapped Rock on the stage. Following this the Academy banned Will Smith for ten years while the actor apologised to Rock for the violent act.

In a twist in the tale, Chris Rock has been once again approached by the Academy to host the event next year. But this time Chris Rock has declined the offer. Chris compared going back to the Oscars to returning to the scene of a crime.

This is not the first declination from Chris Rock ever since the slap-gate episode. He refused to appear at the Super Bowl and was hardly seen in public. After months Will Smith said sorry to Chris Rock and even tried to reach the comedian to settle the issue. But Chris Rock was not ready to meet Will Smith and even did not accept the apology.

So who will host the 2023 Oscar Awards? Apparently Chris Rock has been roped in by the Academy in view of Black Lives Matters campaign in the USA and he hosted the award ceremony consecutively. The other option before the Academy is female comedian Ellen DeGeneres of ‘The Ellen Show’ fame.
