Amazon India To Layoff 1000 Employees!

Tech-giant Amazon is planning to sack 18000 of its employees globally. It is heard that around 1000 employees will be laid off in India. The news surfaced in the media before the company released an official statement about it.

In an official statement citing the company’s CEO Andy Jessy, it was stated that the information about layoffs was meant to be kept private but was leaked by one of the teammates. The CEO stated that it is a difficult decision to remove additional roles.

It was also added that the majority of the layoffs are from Amazon Stores and PXT organizations. The company didn’t give any official number regarding the layoffs in India. If 1000 employees are sacked in India, it means 1% of Amazon employees will get laid off among 1,00,000 employees in the organization in India.

For the last few months, many tech companies and start-ups are implementing mass layoffs, increasing worries among IT employees about the recession. It is heard that more layoffs are expected from various popular companies in the coming months.
