Singapore’s Changi Airport has once again been crowned the world’s best airport in the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023, after losing the title to Qatar’s Hamad International Airport for the past two years during the height of pandemic travel restrictions.
Doha’s Hamad Airport came in second place, followed by Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in third. Notably, no US airport made it into the top 10.
Paris Charles de Gaulle was Europe’s top performer, climbing one spot to fifth place, while Seattle-Tacoma International Airport was the highest ranked North American airport, improving from 27th to 18th place.
Other notable moves included New York’s JFK falling three spots to 88th place, while China’s Shenzhen leaped 26 places to 31, two spots above Hong Kong. Melbourne was the top-ranked Australian airport in 19th place, up from 26th last year, and London Heathrow dropped nine places to 22nd.
The Skytrax World Airport Awards are determined by a customer satisfaction survey, and Changi Airport CEO Lee Seow Hiang expressed gratitude for the recognition, saying, “This recognition is great encouragement to our airport community, who stood firmly together to battle the challenges of Covid-19 over the past two years.”
