Instagram Model Under Fire For A Swim In Deadly Islands

Social media influencers try to be unique and some of them go to extremes to enthrall their followers. One such Instagram model has gone to swim in a deadly Island cave and the internet is angry with her.

Instagram model Marina Rivera Saldana is a prominent Spanish influencer and Instagram model with nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and over 7 million fans on TikTok.

Sardana usually posts pictures of herself in gorgeous locales and her recent posts from the deadly Canary Islands attracted criticism. Marina posted a picture of her swimming in the water at the dangerous and off-limits cave in the Canary Islands.

She posted the pictures with the caption, ‘I’m a little mermaid from Makoo.’ Though the backdrop is breathtaking, swimming in an extremely dangerous area is what triggered the criticism. Marina was taking a dip in the famous El Tancon cave in Santiago del Teide, Tenerife on the Canary Islands in Morocco.

The beautiful cave has taken away six people so far since 2021. The cave is called a ‘blo hole’ and the rock formation over there causes ‘unpredictable’ currents and makes it difficult for emergency responders to get to people inside.

There are many comments coming from all over about why the influencers ignore the warning like ‘Bathing is forbidden here’. ‘It seems to me a lack of respect that you are bathing in a place that is PROHIBITED, which is FENCED and has SIGNS POSED which prohibit bathing, and you enter because of the photos, and on top of that, you publish it. Where you are, people have died, it is not an area suitable for bathing,’ another said.
