Elections Time: Fake Hyd Police Loots Man

In a troubling incident that unfolded in Punjagutta, Hyderabad, two individuals faking as police officers managed to extort a sum of Rs. 18.5 lakhs from a local merchant, Pradeep Sharma.

Pradeep had been entrusted with the task of depositing Rs. 20 lakhs at the Bank of Baroda’s Panjagutta branch. The culprits intercepted him under the pretense of conducting a police checkpoint. Seizing Pradeep’s bag, which contained the entire amount, they then compelled him to join them in their vehicle. However, when Pradeep’s bag was eventually returned to him near Khairatabad, he was stunned to discover that only Rs. 1.5 lakhs remained, with a staggering Rs. 18.5 lakhs missing.

Following Pradeep’s complaint, the Punjagutta police swiftly initiated an investigation into this brazen act of extortion. Detective Inspector S. Kranthi Kumar, who is overseeing the case, stated, “Pradeep Sharma, an employee of Chimanlal Suresh Kumar Textiles Pvt. Ltd, was halted near Khairatabad while carrying Rs. 20 lakhs, which he was supposed to deposit in the bank the following day.

However, he was intercepted by fake police officers who robbed him of Rs. 18.5 lakhs and fled the scene. We have filed a case and our investigation is ongoing to determine the identities of those responsible.” This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of public awareness and vigilance against such criminal activities.
