Vizianagaram Train Accident, 3 Dead- Many Injured

In a tragic incident in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district, a collision between two trains has resulted in the unfortunate death of three passengers and left several others injured. The accident occurred when a passenger train bound for Rayagada, Odisha, derailed near Vizianagaram after a collision with the Palasa Express. Two carriages of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada train were derailed in the mishap, and a rescue operation is currently in progress.

Indian Railways reported that the incident took place as a train traveling from Vizianagaram to Raigad collided with a passenger train on the same route from Vishakapatnam to Palasa. While injuries have been reported, the exact number is yet to be confirmed, and both trains were involved in the collision. Efforts for rescue and restoration are actively underway.

According to the Divisional Railway Manager, the accident involved a rear collision between the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train and the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train. Three coaches were affected, resulting in ten injuries. The authorities have been informed, including the local administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), for assistance and ambulance services. Accident relief teams have already reached the accident site.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the Kantakapalli train accident in Vizianagaram district. He has directed officials to take immediate relief measures and ensure that the injured receive timely medical attention. The Chief Minister has advised the dispatch of numerous ambulances from nearby districts, including Visakhapatnam and Anakapalli, to provide necessary medical treatment in nearby hospitals. He also emphasized the regular reporting of incident details to his office.
