In March 2010, the game had 83.76 million monthly active users. In May 2012, the game was ranked as the seventh most popular Facebook game. Zynga revealed the reason for shutting down FarmVille in their FAQ section. “Farmville runs on Adobe Flash, and from December 31, Adobe Flash and games running on it will no longer be supported by browsers and Facebook. That is why we had to make the tough decision of shutting down Farmville.” revealed the company.

Farmville will be completely shut down on December 31, 2020, but the team will stop accepting payments after November 17, 2020.

However, Zynga has other farming games that you can enjoy both on mobile and the browser. FarmVille 2 Tropic Escape, FarmVille 2 Country Escape, and FarmVille 2 are the games that the company offers. Also, Zynga is busy developing a brand new game, FarmVille 3, which is coming soon!

“Thank you is a small word, but when fertilized with love and beautiful memories, it means the world to us. So here’s a great BIG THANK YOU for farming with us through it all.” posted the team on their official Facebook page.
