IPL 2020: SRH Registers Its First Win Of The Season

Finally, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to register their maiden win of the tournament. They beat the table-toppers Delhi Capitals by 15 runs. It was a complete all-round effort from SRH. Both batsmen and bowlers have put equal efforts to put their team in a better position throughout the game.

After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals invited Sunrisers to bat. Openers David Warner (45) and Jonny Bairstow (53) gave the start Sunrisers needed. Though they were slow, they were successful in keeping their wickets for a long time. Both of them have made 77 runs together for the first wicket. Leggie Amit Mishra broke this partnership and sent Warner back home. Soon, he also sent back Manish Pandey to the pavilion. But Bairstow took care of the innings along with Kane Williamson (41). The latter played a classy knock even though he was away from the game for the last six months. Bairstow fell right after completing his half-century. With a little good cameo from debutante Abdul Samad, SRH managed to finish 20 overs with a score of 162/4.

Delhi had a shaky start while chasing this modest total. Opener Prithvi Shaw got out right in the first over of the innings. Later, Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan sailed DC through the power play. But Rashid Khan (3/14) dismissed Iyer after the power play got over. Within a few overs, he dismissed Dhawan as well. Then, Rishab Pant and Shimron Hetmyer tried to hit some shots in the middle. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/25) removed Hetmyer with a wide yorker.

Once again, Rashid came and dismissed in-form Pant. Only Stoinis was the threatening factor for SRH and he was dismissed by Natarajan in the 18th over. With that, SRH almost sealed its win. In the end, Delhi managed to end the innings with a score of 147/7. Sunrisers will next face Chennai Super Kings on October 2. Delhi will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on October 3.
