Covid-19: India Records One Lakh Deaths

India has emerged as the third nation in the world to touch the six figure mark of Covid-19 deaths. In the last 24 hours, 1069 people have died making the total death count go past the one lakh mark. Currently the total death tally is 1,00,845 but it can be noted that India took nearly seven months time to achieve this feat unlike the worst hit nations.

India is behind USA and Brazil which have 2,13,524 and 1,45,431 Covid-19 deaths respectively. In terms of the cases, India has touched the 64 Lakh mark. 79,476 new positive cases are filed in the last 24 hours and the total cases are at 64,73,545 while the active cases are at 9,44,996 and 54,27,70 people have recovered from the virus.

India’s recovery rate is 83.5 per cent while cases fatality rate is 1.6 percent. The Union Health ministry added that 25 States/Union Territories have reported fall in the number of active cases during the last week.
