Shamshabad Airport went on a high alert for a few hours after the authorities received an email threatening a bomb threat to the airport. The anonymous emails warning of an RDX attack at the airport alerted the authorities.
A former IT employee, Vaibhav Tiwari was arrested for fake bomb threats to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. He sent emails with the words, ‘The email comprised of ”Please don’t open international airport doors the hijacker are using compliance to murder you’.
Vaibhav worked in IT from 2012 to 2020. After losing his job due to COVID-19 illness, he fell into depression and started sending threatening emails to Aiprort and other important organizations.
The first email came on Thursday morning and the RGI airport police and multiple wings of Telangana police carried out searched and confirmed the mail to be a hoax. Vaibhav reportedly sent more than 200 emails with fake bomb threats.
