Chris Gayle is a legend of T20 cricket and there is no denying in that fact. The 41-year-old Jamaican cricketer has made a new record last night. He became the first cricketer to hit 1000 sixes in the T20 format. He achieved this landmark feat in the match against Rajasthan Royals.
Gayle took 410 T20 appearances to achieve this feat. Gayle smashed 99 off 63 balls in the last night’s game. He had hit six fours and eight sixes in his innings. When everyone thought that he will make his century, Jofra Archer dismissed him in the 20th over. He is also the leading six-hitter in IPL. He has hit 349 sixes in his Indian Premier League career. AB de Villiers stands in second place with 232 maximums, which are 117 less than the number of Gayle. That proves what a monstrous player he is.
Most of his sixes in T20 cricket came for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He had hit 263 sixes for that team. The second-highest number was 124, which he had hit for Jamaica Tallawahas. He smashed 105 sixes for West Indies and 84 for Kings XI Punjab. These stats prove Gayle is indeed the Universe boss.
