Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, which was built in 2008 with a capacity to handle 12 million passengers is now handling more than 30 million annually with a single integrated terminal.
With passenger demand on the rise, the Hyderabad airport is planning to get one more terminal and an additional runway. Hyderabad Airport recorded more than 34 million passengers in the year 2024 alone and the number is likely to go up to 45 million by 2030.
SGK Kishore, the Executive director and Chief Innovation officer said, ‘Currently there is a 43 flight movement per hour at Hyderabad International Airport, it will reach 55 flight movement per hour in the next 3 to 4 years. He said the ultimate of the airport would be 100 million passengers.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Wednesday launched the transformation of Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, calling it a benchmark for India’s aviation sector. He launched the Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC) and he highlighted the airport’s exponential growth since its inception in 2008.
