Now, Get Rs 10 Tea & Snacks At Airport

Air travel is fraught with premium expenses right from the ticket fare to the refreshments at the airport. Sensing the hardship of the air passengers following complaints from them, the Central government recently launched Udaan Yatri Cafe at the Netaji Subhash Chandrabose International airport in Kolkata. It is aimed at providing snacks at affordable prices for the air passengers.

At this cafe, tea and water bottle are available for just Rs 10 each, sweet snacks and samosa for Rs 20 each, which is much less when compared to the cost at shopping malls or other premium food joints.

The prices of eatables at this cafe are completely different from that quoted by other food kiosks on the airport premises.

Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu inaugurated the cafe in Kolkata couple of weeks ago.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that the cafe was opened to address complaints over the skyrocketing price of eatables and food at airports. The airport authorities said that over 900 passengers have been utilsing the services of the cafe on a daily basis, since its launch. There is a good response to the budget cafe, said the organisers.

In the first month of its launch, over 27,000 passengers utilized the services.

Following the success of the budget cafe, requests are pouring in to the ministry seeking opening such cafes in their areas too.

Union minister Rammohan Naidu, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, needs an applause for this thoughtful initiative. All the TDP leaders elected by the people during the elections last year are leaving a mark of their commitment to public good and development at the grassroots-level.
