Government authorities recognize and reward best performers in different fields.
In a similar initiative, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav distributed scooties to 7,900 Class 12 toppers of the MP Board at a special programme conducted at the Kushbhau Thackeray Convention Centre in Bhopal.
The new two-wheelers were readied to be gifted to the toppers symbolically at the event, attended by school education minister Uday Pratap Singh and Tribal Affairs minister Kunwar Vijay Shah.
The meritorious students were picked from the state and were provided financial assistance to purchase a scooty of their choice, petrol or electric vehicle.
Students wishing to own an electric scooty got Rs 1.2 lakh into their account while those planning to have a petrol vehicle were granted Rs 90,000.
Another event to symbolically handover the vehicles to the toper was also organized at Minto Hall.
The scheme had been designed to motivate students of government schools to excel in academics.
