Union communications minister Jyotiraditya Scindia proudly claimed that India will take the lead in developing next-gen 6G technology, to contribute 10% to worldwide patents.
He was speaking at the ET Now Global Business Summit. Scindia said Bharat 6G Alliance members, including professionals from the private sector, researchers and IITs, have prepared a paper which focuses on connectivity for all.
At the International Telecom Union, India already submitted a paper which has been accepted as one of the principles of 6G.
“India has a target to contribute 10% of patents for 6G. Our country is among the top six nations in terms of global patents for 6G,” he said.
A 6G testbed had already been established by India and the Centre sanctioned nearly 111 research projects, worth Rs 300 crore.
Speaking about the measures taken to develop a robust 6G ecosystem, the Bharat 6G Alliance has forged alliances with key global players like US, Germany, South Korea and Brazil, to give impetus to innovation and research.
The 6G platform is meant for collective progress. We followed the world in 4G, walked alongside it in 5G and now, will lead the world in 6G,” he added.
In just 22 months, India ensured 5G rollout, covering 99% of districts, he reminded.
Scindia’s statement emphasizes India is expanding and progressing in technology, to transform as a hub for hi-tech hub.
