IPS officer Sajjanar who is one of the most reputed and mass-centric officers in Telangana has been strongly taking forward the “Say no to betting” initiative. He has been instigating cases against social media influencers who had been promoting betting culture on their social media handles.
In this context, popular YouTubers Bayya Sunny Yadav and Harsha Sai had already been booked by Telangana police for promoting betting apps.
Now, in an interesting move by the Punjagutta police, 11 social media influencers were booked for promoting betting apps.
Cases were registered against 11 social media influencers promoting betting apps. The list includes anchor Shyamala, Vishnupriya, Supritha, Ritu Chaudhary, Harshasai, Tasty Teja, Pareshan Boys Imran, Kiran Goud, Ajay, Sunny, Sudheer.
They were booked under Sections 318(4) of the BNS, Sections 3, 3(A) and 4 of the Telangana State Gaming Act, and Section 66D of the IT Act, 2008. They are all going to face the legal consequences for their earlier actions when it comes to promoting betting culture.
What had been happening over the last few days is that these influencers have been promoting betting content by saying they’re making huge money by gambling on certain platforms. This has been influencing common folk to invest in these platforms and ruin their lives.
The Telangana government has rightly started a campaign against this now and they’re going pretty hard on this matter, which is a really appreciable gesture.
