Big News: Dhoni Returning As CSK Captain?

One of the flagship names associated with the Indian Premier League over the years is Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Despite the fact that he had retired from international Cricket some five years ago, Dhoni is still one of the biggest crowd pullers in the game. 

Coming to the topic, now, the latest developments are suggesting that Dhoni could be returning as the captain of Chennai Super Kings side very soon.

Ruturaj Gaikwad sustained a blow to his hand in the earlier game against Rajasthan, and his availability is doubtful for the next game against Delhi Capitals. 

In the possible case of the absence of Rutu Raj , then there is every chance that Dhoni could be appointed as the captain of the side and the same was implied by Michael Hussey who is associated with the CSK camp.

“We are continuously assessing the availability of Ruturaj. In case he cannot play in the next game due to injury, then we could be exploring other options for captaincy. There is every chance that we could appoint a young wicket-keeper as the captain” Hussey said. 

Though it was not directly mentioned that Dhoni could be connecting the side, the hidden implication about the reference to “young wicketkeeper” could be a sign that Dhoni could be given captaincy reigns. 

It must be noted that there have been several complaints about the lackluster leadership of Rutu Raj Gaikwad for a while now. So the captaincy change to Dhoni could come as a welcome change.
