A shocking incident unfolded late Friday night in Hyderabad as T News anchor Swetcha was found dead by suicide at her residence in Jawahar Nagar.
Swetcha reportedly ended her life by hanging herself from a ceiling fan using a lungi. She leaves behind a 13-year-old daughter. Known not just as a popular anchor, Swetcha was also respected in media circles for her bold views and her involvement in issues concerning journalists and Telangana-related activism.
According to initial reports, Swetcha had been living with a male companion after separating from her husband. Police believe that personal issues with this friend may have led to the tragic decision.
Swetcha’s father, Shankar, was a state president of PDSU in united Andhra Pradesh, and her mother Sridevi is associated with a women’s welfare organization. She had also recently won as an executive committee member in the Journalist Housing Society elections.
Her body was moved to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem. Swetcha’s parents live in Ramnagar. She had nearly 18 years of experience in Telugu journalism.
Just a few days ago, her Instagram post had gone viral, where she shared a meditative photo of herself with the quote: “When the mind is silent, the soul speaks.” This post now feels haunting in retrospect.
Friends, colleagues, and those who knew her closely are struggling to process the news of her death.
