Children Of Corona Warriors Who Died To Get MBBS Reservation

The Indian government introduced a new category of reservation ‘Wards of Covid Warriors’. It is the quota in MBBS and BDS seats under the Central pool for the kin of Covid warriors who died.

Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan made an announcement that children of Covid warriors and frontline health workers who lost their lives will get a reservation for admission in undergraduate medical course for the academic year 2020-21. The Covid warriors’ children will get five seats in Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Dental surgery, and Bachelor of Surgery.

Along with the Wards of Covid Warrior’s reservation, another reservation for the children and spouses of terror attack victims is also introduced to get admission for MBBS and BDS courses this academic year. The Wards of people in the terror organizations’ hit list and the children of families who migrated from Kashmir will get a reservation in admission for MBBS and BDS.

The Government of India defines Covid warriors as public healthcare workers, which include community health workers, Private hospital staff and retired, volunteer, contracted, daily wage, Adhoc, and local urban bodies. The outsourced staff requisitioned by states, central hospitals, autonomous hospitals of central, states, UTs, AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance, hospitals of central ministries placed for covid related responsibilities also come under the reservation eligible workers’ list.

The Medical Council Committee (MCC) will select the candidates through online application based on the rank obtained in NEET 2020, conducted by the National Testing Agency.
