The world of fashion has lost one of its greatest legends. Giorgio Armani, the Italian designer who changed global style forever, has passed away at the age of 91. His company confirmed that he died due to age-related health issues after battling illness for some time.
Known as “King Giorgio”, Armani became a symbol of modern Italian elegance. His unstructured suits and minimalist designs brought a quiet revolution to the fashion world, making him a household name far beyond the runway. More than a designer, he was also a sharp businessman, building an empire that turned into one of the most successful fashion houses in the world with an annual turnover worth billions of euros.
The Armani Group released a statement mourning his death, calling him the driving force behind the brand. His body will be kept in Milan on September 6 and 7 for the public to pay their respects. The final rites will be held in a private ceremony on a later date.
Earlier this year, in June, Armani missed the Milan Men’s Fashion Week show of his own brand for the very first time, citing health concerns. It was unusual for him, as he was always known to be hands-on in every detail of his collections from ad campaigns to the styling of models on the runway.
With Armani’s passing, the world has lost not just a fashion designer but a cultural icon whose vision redefined how elegance is worn and celebrated.
