Indian Premier League is the biggest cricketing season in India, which has become a part of our lives ever since it took birth in 2008. Every year during Summer, cricketers worldwide come forward to provide great entertainment for sports lovers. Due to the COVID pandemic in 2020, the organizers shifted the IPL to UAE after postponing it in India a couple of times. No one expected that IPL would kick-off in 2020, but BCCI made the impossible possible and pocketed huge revenues. BCCI Treasurer Arun Dhumal revealed that the board received a revenue of 4000 Cr on the current season.
Arun Dhumal has briefed the report card of IPL 2020 and expressed happiness over how the tournament was organized. The board earned 4000 Cr revenue and witnessed a hike in the viewership by 25 percent. The board has reduced the costs by 35% and managed to mint in huge profits.
During the tournament, over 30,000 RT-PCR Covid tests were conducted for a total of 1,800 individuals. The highest-ever viewership is recorded for the opening game between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.
BCCI is planning to organize IPL 2021 in India during the Summer. Ahead of the tournament, a mega auction is likely to happen next year. The details will be announced by the board officials soon.
