Many people believe that the United States sends back the highest number of Indian nationals every year. However, the latest data from 2025 tells a different story. It is Saudi Arabia, not the USA, that has deported the most Indians this year.
According to official figures shared in Parliament, more than 24,600 Indians were deported from 81 countries in 2025. Out of this total, over 11,000 Indians were deported from Saudi Arabia alone, placing the Gulf nation at the top of the list. The United States comes much later, with around 3,800 Indian deportations during the same period.
Saudi Arabia’s position is not surprising when we look at the large number of Indian workers living and working there. Millions of Indians travel to Saudi Arabia for jobs in construction, domestic work, and other labour sectors. With such a huge migrant population, even small violations can result in large deportation numbers.
The main reasons behind these deportations include visa overstays, expired documents, working without valid permits, and violations of local labour laws. In recent years, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have tightened immigration checks and enforcement, leading to more crackdowns on illegal or undocumented workers.
While the USA continues to deport Indians every year, its numbers are clearly lower compared to Saudi Arabia in 2025. Other countries that also deported a noticeable number of Indians include Myanmar, the UAE, Malaysia, Bahrain, Thailand, and Cambodia.
This data clearly shows a shift in global migration patterns. It also highlights the importance for Indians working abroad to strictly follow visa rules and local laws. Proper documentation and legal employment are crucial to avoid sudden deportation and loss of livelihood.
