In less than 48 hours from now, we will be welcoming New Year 2026, and the stage is being firmly set for the same as celebrations are likely to hit the roof. In this context, Hyderabad police have issued a crucial regulation to the common public.
The city police have made it very clear that there will be extensive drunk and drive checks starting from 8 PM December 31 and there’s no escaping the same.
It has been communicated by the police department that drinking and driving may potentially invite a fine up to ₹15,000 and extended jail term.
Pubs and clubs have been instructed by the department that they must not knowingly permit drunk driving, and it is their responsibility to see that their customers find a safe mode of transport after drinking.
The police department further made it very clear that auto rickshaws and other public modes of transport must not reject drunk individuals in order to comply with the safety standards.
While the New Year celebrations are perfectly fine and are to be enjoyed, it must be noted that safety and security comes beyond all else, and this must be followed in principal as instructed by the police authorities.
