The most successful and widely followed cricket tournament in the world, Indian Premier League, shortly IPL has completed the auction and preparing for the new season starting in March.
Ahead of the start of the season, there has been a significant development globally regarding the IPL as Bangladesh has communicated that they will be banning the tournament from being streamed and televised in their country.
This decision comes shortly after the IPL governing body decided to remove Bangladesh player, Mustafizur Rahman from the coming season in view of the ongoing conflict against the Hindu community in Bangladesh.
When it comes to the revenue and financial aspect, this decision by the Bangladesh authorities to ban the IPL might not be too significant for the league itself.
The BCCI had already sold the digital and television streaming rights of IPL for a whopping price of ₹48,000 crore. This contract is valid till 2027, and there will be no immediate changes in the same, regardless of the decision taken by Bangladesh.
While Bangladesh might have felt that they could be dealing significant damage to India by banning the IPL that is not the case in reality. If anything this removal of the streaming of IPL in Bangladesh might not even be considerable for the BCCI at the higher level.
