Infosys Plans Permanent Campus at Yendada Hill in Vizag

Infosys, one of India’s leading IT companies, is planning to establish a permanent campus at Yendada Hill in Visakhapatnam. This move is being seen as a major boost for the city’s growing technology ecosystem and for AP’s efforts to attract large-scale investments.

Visakhapatnam, often called Vizag, has long been known for its port, industries, and scenic coastline. Over the last few years, it has also been positioning itself as an emerging IT and services hub. The proposed Infosys campus fits well into this broader vision of economic diversification and employment generation.

Yendada Hill, located on the outskirts of the city, has already witnessed infrastructure development and increasing interest from the IT and real estate sectors. A permanent Infosys campus here would likely bring thousands of direct and indirect jobs, benefiting engineers, support staff, and local businesses. From housing and transport to food services and retail, the economic ripple effects could be significant.

For young professionals and students in the region, this development could reduce the need to migrate to cities like Bengaluru or Hyderabad for tech jobs. It also strengthens Vizag’s reputation as a city that can host global companies while offering a better quality of life.

From the government’s perspective, attracting a company like Infosys sends a strong signal to other investors about policy stability and long-term commitment to development. It aligns with efforts to decentralise growth and ensure that opportunities are spread beyond a few major metropolitan cities.

If implemented smoothly, this new campus could become a landmark project for the city, marking its transition from an industrial-port region to a balanced urban centre with a strong presence in the knowledge economy.
