The Supreme Court of India has been very proactive when it comes to the rulings on the stray dogs issue across the country. Today, an interesting argument happened in the Supreme Court and a very proactive verdict was delivered subsequently.
The Supreme Court pointed out that dog feeders and related foundations will be held responsible if stray dogs bite someone in the area. In case the dog goes on to bite or scratch anyone on the road, the concerned person who is established to feed it will have to cover the medical expenses of the victim.
The apex court further pointed out that the respective states will have to control the population of the dogs and take necessary action in this regard. The court pointed out that the state administration will be held responsible for the dog population and their activities.
The Supreme Court further made a very interesting comment, while speaking about the advocates arguing in support of dogs. “We must note that there are many people representing dogs in this court, but no one is representing humans.”
