It is an established fact that WhatsApp is the most widely used instant messaging application in the world, and it is used for several personal and professional purposes. However, WhatsApp has often faced complaints related to privacy, and another such case has now emerged.
Despite promising end to end encryption, which means only the sender and the receiver can access the messages, WhatsApp is now facing allegations that it may have the ability to view private conversations.
Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is being sued over claims that it can spy on users and access WhatsApp messages, which goes against its assurance that users have full privacy and that their messages are completely encrypted.
Meta whistleblowers claim that WhatsApp’s private chats can be read by the company despite its promises of end to end encryption. A lawsuit filed in a US court alleges that Meta misled billions of users worldwide into believing that their messages were fully private.
An international group of plaintiffs has sued Meta Platforms, alleging that the WhatsApp owner can store, analyse, and access virtually all of users’ private communications.
The progress of the case in court is expected to shed more light on the allegations surrounding WhatsApp’s ability to read private messages and conversations.
