Despite Ban, Chinese Manja Kills 5 Year Old in Hyderabad

The Sankranti season brings festive cheer to the Telugu community, but it also creates fear on the roads of Hyderabad due to the use of Chinese manja, a sharp, glass coated thread used for flying kites. These dangerous threads often fall onto roads and injure two wheeler riders by cutting their bodies.

In a shocking incident from Hyderabad, a five year old girl lost her life after her throat was slit by a Chinese manja thread.

According to reports, a man named Premsagar from KPHB had visited his village with his family and was returning home on his motorcycle. His younger daughter, around five years old, was seated at the front of the bike when she suddenly started screaming in pain.

The father immediately stopped the vehicle and noticed heavy bleeding from the child’s neck. On closer inspection, it was found that a manja thread had cut her throat. The parents quickly removed the thread and rushed the child to a nearby hospital, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries.

This tragic incident is another addition to the growing list of victims affected by Chinese manja. Authorities have repeatedly warned against the use of this banned thread, but some irresponsible individuals continue to use it for kite flying, putting innocent lives at risk.
