It is already known that the AI automation and alignment has already led to several layoffs in major tech companies across the globe. Now there is a lot of panic and confusion on whether the AI revolution would create repercussions in the Indian job market as well.
When asked to comment on this matter at the ongoing AI Summit, here is what Tata Consultancy Services TCS CEO Krithivasan had to say.
The leading IT company, CEO pointed out that there is no need to panic regarding the AI revolution as it will simply not take away every virtual job in the IT sector.
Krithivasan explains AI expands work by boosting productivity 20-30% in IT, allowing companies to tackle backlogs and innovate faster without cutting jobs. It creates new roles in AI applications like drug discovery and automation, plus infrastructure needs.
AI will expand the scope of IT services, with productivity gains used to clear backlogs and accelerate new tech programmes instead of cutting jobs.
The IT industry is shifting toward outcome-based pricing, while AI adoption could drive massive demand for data centres, with India needing up to 10 GW capacity in 3 years. This will in turn create more jobs in the foreseeable future.
