Ahead of Holi celebrations in Hyderabad, City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has issued clear instructions to ensure the festival is celebrated peacefully and without inconvenience to the public.
The Commissioner stated that forcefully applying colours on unwilling persons will not be tolerated. Throwing colours on pedestrians, vehicles or passersby in public places is strictly prohibited. Police warned that strict action will be taken against anyone creating nuisance on roads.
To prevent harassment of women, She Teams will be deployed in plain clothes across the city. Special teams will closely monitor sensitive areas and take immediate action if any complaints are received.
Police also advised citizens to use natural colours instead of chemical based ones to avoid health issues. In addition, no permissions will be granted for DJs during Holi celebrations this year. Authorities made it clear that vehicles will be seized if groups create disturbances or indulge in rash behaviour on roads.
Liquor shops, toddy shops, bars and restaurants within the Hyderabad Commissionerate limits will remain closed from 6 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Since the festival coincides with the ongoing Ramzan month, the Commissioner directed officials to ensure that prayers are not disturbed. Police will coordinate with peace committees and deploy additional forces in sensitive areas to maintain harmony.
Cases will be registered under the City Police Act against those violating the norms. Citizens have been advised to dial 100 in case of any law and order issue and cooperate with the police to celebrate Holi safely and responsibly.
