Nearly four days after getting lost during her trekking escapade, Kerala women Saranaya has finally been traced alive on Sunday evening, giving a sigh of relief to everyone who have been anxiously following the rescue operations.
Reportedly, she was rescued with the help of local tribals and was immediately shifted to a safe location for preliminary medical care. Saranaya survived with the help of water from streams inside the forest and did not panic despite having no human sight all these four days.
The 36 year old IT professional was on a solo trip to Kodagu forest and went to ascend Tadiandamol hills with a group of trekkers on April 2. However, she veered off from the group while taking an alternative path and went deep into the forest in attempt to find a way out.
Unfortunately, she lost her way and was stranded in unidentified location. When the group discovered that she didn’t return to the camping site, the forest officials were immediately alerted.
A massive search operation ensued and snipper dogs were also deployed to trace the missing traveller. Despite using drones and all other available resources, Saranya could not be found untill Sunday afternoon. Luckily, the search teams were able to trace her just before it is getting dark on Sunday.
More than 150 personnel including anti-naxal forces were involved in the search operation to locate her. Teams were sent into the dense forest stretches and also to the interior areas.
