The number of Telugu students going to the United States for higher studies is increasing every year. While many students go as part of a general trend, some stand out with strong skills and clear goals.
In one such inspiring development, a Telugu student has made the community proud by getting elected as a student representative at the prestigious University of Chicago, in its Harris School of Public Policy.
The student, Sindhuja Teepireddy, is from Hyderabad. She has always aimed to join the civil services and work towards social reform. To strengthen her knowledge and skills, she chose to pursue higher studies at the University of Chicago.
The student body she was elected to is part of a global initiative where students learn about public policy and work on community focused solutions.
In an election with around 500 student voters, Sindhuja secured the highest number of votes. She competed against candidates from the United States, Pakistan, and Ethiopia, and won the election comfortably.
Sindhuja aims to join the Indian civil services in the future. She plans to complete her studies, gain experience by working at a global bank, and then return to India to prepare for the civil services exam.
