In this digital era, it is becoming a lot common for people to send wedding invitations and other private function invitations through WhatsApp. This is becoming a standard practice these days as the traditional personal invitations are going down drastically.
Well it appears that scammers and fraudsters are also looking to make a meal out of this situation now as they’re acting correspondingly with regard to these WhatsApp invitations.
Apparently, these fraudsters are starting to send wedding invitations through WhatsApp, and there is a deceptive malware link associated with the same. When the receiver download the APK application that comes with the wedding invitation on WhatsApp, this will give the hacker the ability to hack sensitive information on the phone.
Reportedly a businessman in Bengaluru has already lost ₹5,00,000 by falling to this scam that is being done in the name of wedding invitations.
So from now on, when you receive a wedding invitation or any such invitation message on WhatsApp, be extremely careful about opening them up. Any kind of irrational thinking can led to severe financial consequences.
For the last few months, it was the fake traffic challenge scam that looted the people and now it is the wedding invitation scam that’s catching up.
