It is already known that the Indian authorities have been extremely opposing the circulation of adult content on social media platforms. They have enforce strict regulations on leading platforms like Instagram and Twitter with regard to p*rnography.
Now something extremely shocking is being established by the British Broadcast company, which is famous as BBC. They have found out that Instagram has been running child s*xual abuse content campaigns in India and reported the same to the authorities.
According to the latest documentary that was featured by the BBC, an undercover investigation found 30 paid ads on Instagram India promoting child s*xual abuse material. This campaign is allegedly directing buyers to Telegram channels with content priced as low as ₹99.
In response to this Instagram initially told the BBC a reported ad did not violate guidelines, and later suspended these accounts only after the documentary was aired. The BBC has reported all these campaigns to the Indian authorities and substantial action could be following.
At a time when the Indian authorities are cracking down on adult content itself, this latest establishment by the BBC. where the Instagram is accused of spreading child content could invite severe consequences.
However, Instagram is yet to issue a public communication to this effect, and we have to see what kind of justification that they will be able to find for the same. But if the Indian authorities find any regularities here, Instagram could pay a heft fine.
