Microsoft is one of the industry leaders in the technological sector, but the company has been undergoing significant sizing down operation in the recent past. Just last week, Microsoft reduced their global workforce by around 4800 employees.
And now the latest developments are suggesting that Microsoft is following good principles when it comes to severance packages. Apparently, the company is offering up to 9 months of standard pay to the employees who have been fired recently.
Following its announcement to slash 4,800 jobs which is around 2.1% of its global workforce, Microsoft is rolling out its severance details for laid-off US employees.
Most workers will remain on payroll for 60 days before transitioning to a package offering up to 39 weeks of base pay, depending on seniority. Eligible staff will also receive continued stock vesting for up to a year and six months of paid health insurance.
This is one of the few positive for the human workforce, community globally, and it is good to see this tech giant look after the outgoing employees in an adequate manner.
In the meanwhile, there have been several protests and mixed opinions about the nature of these firing operations as Microsoft is accused of replacing high paying American labour with possible cheaper options elsewhere.
