‘Twitter Killer’ Sentenced To Death

The infamous Twitter Killer of Japan, Takahiro Shiraishi was sentenced to death by a Tokyo court today. He was accused of murdering and dismembering nine people he met online except one. He admitted killing his victims whom he met on Twitter.

All the Twitter Killer’s victims were between ages 15 and 26. The Killer’s lawyers tried to get him a prison sentence arguing that all the victims expressed suicidal intentions on social media and that reveals their consent to death.

The court ruled out the argument saying none of the nine victims consented to be killed, including silent consent. 435 people were present at the court to watch the judgment though the seats available in the court are just 16.

Takahiro Shiraishi contacted the victims through the social media platform Twitter. He contacted the users who posted about taking their own loves and he made plans to meet them telling them he could help them with their plans or even die alongside them.

The last death sentence executed in Japan was of a Chinese man who murdered a family of four. He was hanged to death.
