Gold smuggling had been one of the most rampant smuggling activities in India for the last few years as fraudsters are finding new ways to trick airport security. Now we have a highly interesting development that has happened in Kerala.
Incidentally, the airport authority is at the Malappuram airport have identified a highly unusual incident with regard to Gold smuggling.
Apparently, an individual who was travelling from Abu Dhabi to Kerala along with 2 children and a 8 month old infant was detained by the authorities.
It is reported that this individual was smuggling gold from Abu Dhabi to India inside the diaper of this eight month old child. The authorities had prior information on this smuggling activity and acted upon the same.
It was established that this individual smuggling Gold worth Rs 50 lakh into India using this 8 month old baby’s diaper. Apart from that, he was carrying additional gold worth more than ₹50 lakh.
In total, this individual head accounted for around ₹1 crore in gold smuggling and he was taken into custody. His audacity to try to smuggle Gold inside the diaper of a small baby shocked the authorities too.
