Delhi Building Collapse: Six Dead, FIR On Owner

The tragic building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area has killed at least six people and injured tens of students after a multi-storey structure suddenly came crashing down on Sunday afternoon.

As the dilapidated building is housing a student’s PG hostel in a busy area, nearly 50 students were trapped under the rubble. Soon after the tragedy, local residents and NDRF teams pulled out the victims and moved them to AIIMS. Many of the injured luckily survived, but six of them succumbed and died in the hospital.

As per reports, the building is said to be nearly 50 years old and the tragedy unfolded when the basement repairs were taken up. Authorities have registered an official FIR against the building owner, promising strict legal action against anyone responsible.

The Delhi government has ordered a magisterial inquiry to find out who is at fault for this major structural failure. Local leaders and student groups are demanding strong accountability, pointing out that many young students living in paying guest facilities are left at risk due to poor enforcement of safety rules.

The accident has once again raised serious safety concerns about illegal constructions and student PG accommodations across overcrowded parts of the national capital.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced a strict nationwide crackdown on dangerous and unauthorized buildings. Officials ordered the immediate sealing of all illegal constructions that have more than four floors built without proper approvals.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister expressed deep shock over the unfortunate incident and offered condolences to the bereaved families.
