Beef consumption might be an extremely taboo topic in India, but it is extremely common in Europe and other parts of the world. For that matter, every other non-Hindu country relies heavily on beef products.
This is precisely where certain Indians are finding themselves in trouble while trying to enforce anti-beef mechanism outside India.
We now have the case of an Indian land lady who has reportedly been arrested in Canada for trying to stop her tenant from consuming beef in the backyard.
Raj Tiwana Sarre, an Indian-origin landlady in Surrey, British Columbia, has gone viral after videos showed her confronting a tenant over cooking beef on a BBQ at her property, with allegations of harassment.
Reportedly, this lady got very furious when she saw her tenant cooking beef along with his friends. She then tried to take matters into own hands and tried to harass the tenant by throwing rocks at him and also trying to push away the beef that was being prepared.
Footage also shows her being detained by police, though an official arrest has not yet been confirmed. The incident has reignited online discussion, with some pointing out that India is among the world’s largest beef exporters.
This lady might have her conventional belief system against beef consumption, and she acted upon it. But the crucial point is that is not illegal to consume in Canada, so the tenant had every right to do what he was doing.
This is a matter of religious and sensitivity approach. And it turns out to be that Raj is going to have to face the legal repercussions for trying to stop her tenant from beef consumption.
