The Woman who returned from the UK and fled to Andhra Pradesh from Delhi tested positive for the new UK virus strain.
The woman tested positive for Covid-19 after she returned from the UK and escaped from Delhi to reach Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh. Now the latest tests confirm she is positive with the new UK strain.
She was traced in Rajahmundry and has been admitted to a local hospital along with her son. There were no reports that she spread the new strain to others in Andhra Pradesh, so far. The woman escaped the isolation center in Delhi and reached Andhra Pradesh on a special train.
According to the health commissioner of Andhra Pradesh, she is the only person with an infection of the new UK strain out of a total of 12 UK-returned passengers who tested positive. She is 47 years old and returned from the UK on December 21 and was traced on December 24.
The woman’s son tested negative and the other person who came in contact with her also tested negative for the virus. So far, six passengers who returned from the UK were reported to have tested positive for the new UK strain in India.
