Women have been proving their mettle in every field without any exception. They have made foray into even the toughest of male bastions. As a counterpart to her husband, a 30-year-old woman, Adilaxmi, has been working in an automobile repair shop at Sujata Nagar near Kothagudem, Telangana.
Adilaxmi, 30, is known for three things – her command in kitchen, her skills in the workshop and being the only woman mechanic in entire Telangana.
In 2010, she married Veerabhadram and they moved to Sujatha Nagar in search of livelihood. Then they set up a mechanic and welding shop with Rs 1 lakh raised through mortgage.
A mother of two, she started learning the work to be of help to her husband. Now, she claims that she can mend a punctured inner tube, grease and fit tyres into the vehicle rim and axle, all on her own.
Though she faced trouble initially in handling the work, now, she can change the tyres from two-wheelers to trucks and carriers. The couple serve the customers round-the-clock.
Kudos to Adilaxmi for striking a balance between her work and managing home and creating a better life for her family.
