There are a lot of speculations going around for the last few days on the schedule and venues of IPL 2021. After considering many factors like COVID-19 cases, bio bubble feasibility and election schedule, the management of IPL has decided to host the tournament in six venues. The league starts on April 9th and ends on May 30th.
Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi are the six venues that will host this year’s IPL. The home venues of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings were ignored. However, IPL management made sure that no team gets home advantage. That means, Mumbai will not play any match in Mumbai, Bangalore will not play any match in Bengaluru and the same with CSK, DC and KKR. This surprising move came in as a shocker for many.
This will affect the teams which selected players based on the conditions of their home turf. The opening match will be held between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai. There will be 11 double-headers in total. The night matches start at 07.30 PM while the day matches start at 03.30 PM.
